The Florida Green Lodging Program is a voluntary initiative of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection that since 2004 has been reviewing, designating, and recognizing lodging facilities that make a commitment to conserve and protect Florida’s natural resources. For a lodging facility to receive this certification, they must complete a thorough property assessment in five areas of sustainable operations: communication and education, waste reduction, water conservation, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality. Each environmental practice has a point value, and a facility must obtain a minimum of 212 points to qualify for the Green Lodging One Palm designation, with Four Palm being the highest designation achievable. All of Legacy Vacation Resorts’ Florida properties have been awarded the Florida Green Lodging 2 Palm certification at the following respective dates:
- Palm Coast – July 22nd, 2019
- Lake Buena Vista – August 2nd, 2019
- Indian Shores – September 26th, 2019
- Orlando-Kissimmee – November 19th, 2019
The Florida Green Lodging designation is valid for three years, and at Legacy Vacation Resorts, we are working on improving our operations in order to become a Three Palm company when it becomes time to renew in the year 2022.
