At the beginning of 2019, Legacy Vacation Resorts began its journey by re-launching our brand with a heavy focus on our social and environmental impact. Legacy Vacation resorts became B-Corp certified in March of 2019 and introduced new initiatives as part of the certification process leading to a shift toward a more sustainable legacy. As part of these efforts, travelers can now offset 100% of the carbon footprint from their stay when booking directly through our resort. In addition, we offer an option for guests to donate 5% of their reservation to a charity of their choice. Furthermore, we forged a partnership with Clean the World, another Certified B Corp, that recycles their used hygiene products and repurposes them back to vulnerable communities around the globe.
The LVR mission is to provide vacation experiences for families and friends to create unique moments and lasting memories in a manner that respects our environment, employees, and community. While using our business as a force for good, we will be a collaborative steward of the hospitality industry, using compassion, interdependence, and positive impact to drive sustainable economic development.
Our hope is to use LVR’s success to inspire the travel and hospitality industry to fully embrace inclusive and regenerative practices towards a shared and durable prosperity. We leverage LVR’s commitment to a higher social purpose to inspire growth and positive change in our communities as well as educate our guests on how they can live a healthier and happier life by prioritizing their spending within the B-Corp and other values-aligned communities. Lastly, we use LVR’s partnerships with local and national environmental organizations to highlight important initiatives and build a more sustainable economy.
Our Indian Shores property is a blueprint of what we are trying to achieve as a company. When you walk on the property you will find recycling bins, refillable water-bottle stations, green cleaning products, and electric vehicle chargers for guest use. Additionally, we have cut down on small plastic amenity bottles by providing each room with a refillable unit filled with body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. By 2025, our goals are to use travel as a force for good through social impact, community, and eco-friendly initiatives. Our sustainability mission and 2025 Positive Impact Targets have been in full swing thanks to our dedicated Social Purpose duo – Alex Smith and Leigh DeForest, who have recently been featured by Green Lodging News.
