We love our Central Florida theme parks! I mean, who wouldn’t want to bring the whole family for a week of rides and family fun? But theme parks aren’t the only entertainment to be had, and after a couple of theme park days you might decide your group needs day or two to decompress a little. So you think, huh, maybe a day at our Legacy Vacation Resorts pool is what we need.
Okay, we are a little partial, but we think that’s an outstanding idea! And if you’re staying at our Orlando-Kissimmee resort you can also cool off on the splash pad, play a round of mini golf, get in a set of tennis or shoot some hoops, and hit up the nice, comfy game room during the peak sun hours. And it’s all included in your stay! On top of that, our activities staff have events and activities planned from morning to evening most days. Things like trivia, Wii bowling, family scavenger hunts, s’mores by the campfire, wine & paint (for the adults, of course), and much, much more. You can find the full schedule in our Spring-Summer Activities Guide.
But if venturing out into the greater Orlando metropolitan area appeals to you, there are so many fun and free (or low cost) things to do! Let’s start with the Orlando Public Library, arguably one of the nicest public libraries in the country. There is a Technology & Education Center, a large kids area, and a calendar chock FULL of events every day! Plan to make a stop!
So even you don’t feel like walking a mile in your shoes today? Take the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive. It’s an eleven mile drive where you’ll see egrets, osprey, other indigenous bird species, alligators and more. Their website provides maps and detailed information. It will keep kids engaged (and learning, but don’t tell them that) from the first mile.
You’ll also find many free things to see and do at Disney Springs and Universal City Walk, as well as in downtown Orlando. Old Town Kissimmee has Car Cruises and free Family Movie nights on Sundays. In fact, free Family Movie nights are kind of a thing in Central Florida. They can be found at Winter Park Popcorn Flicks, Altamonte Springs Cranes Roost Sunset Cinema and our very own Legacy Vacation Resorts Orlando-Kissimmee. So while you’re here on Spring Break, give yourself a real break and check out all our resorts and the local area have to offer to keep your whole family entertained without emptying your wallet!
